Tracy Anderson Lands in Coral Gables: Worth the Hype?
The cult LA sculpting method just opened its first Southeast studio. We ran it through a skeptical Miami lens — the waitlist, the price, the science.

A small group class at the studio
There's a new waitlist in the Gables, and it's not for brunch. Tracy Anderson, the trainer who turned Gwyneth Paltrow's postpartum body into a marketing campaign years ago, finally put down roots in South Florida this past November. Long time waiting for this.
miaminewtimes.comThe math is simple: this is her tenth studio globally, first ever in the Southeast, and it lands directly across from University of Miami on South Dixie Highway. The person actually running the floor is Oana Reedy, a longtime Anderson client turned local operator.
athletechnews.comwwd.comThe space itself does the talking before you break a sweat. Anderson's studios are built around a specific, patented atmosphere, and Coral Gables is no exception.
5,500 square feet. Infrared heat panels. Custom humidity systems. A springy CardioFly Super G floor built to protect joints through thousands of tiny repeated moves. It reads less like a gym, more like a wellness set piece, mirrored walls, private showers, an onsite boutique selling the leggings you'll want mid-clas
timeout.comMembership isn't a drop-in situation. It's an application, a body consultation, and access to what Anderson calls her Prescription Team — trainers who've studied under her for a decade-plus and build you a custom program that changes every ten sessions. Drop-in classes exist, but they're limited. This is a relationship, priced like one.
tracyanderson.comThe method itself is the part that gets debated at every dinner party from Bal Harbour to Bird Road. High reps. Three-pound weights, max. No verbal cues from instructors — you're expected to watch and mirror, silently, for an hour. Detractors have flagged the lack of vocal guidance and the injury risk that comes with it for years, and pricing has always been the other sticking point.

I don't know of evidence that supports limiting resistance training to light weights only. But any form of movement is beneficial if it doesn't injure you.
That's a clinical exercise physiologist with the American College of Sports Medicine, not a hater with a grudge. The core claim of the Method — that tiny weights and endless reps sculpt "long, lean" muscle without bulk — remains one exercise scientists keep pushing back on. Muscle either grows, shrinks, or holds steady. "Long and lean" is genetics and body fat, not a specific choreography.
Our Notes
- The design and atmosphere are genuinely a full sensory experience, not just a workout
- Community cachet is real: this is where Miami's wellness-as-status crowd will be seen
- Reported $10K+ annual membership prices out most of the audience. Very exclusive
Our Workout Notes
- No verbal instruction is a real barrier for beginners, and a real injury risk.
- Low-impact format is legitimately kinder to joints than HIIT or heavy lifting.
- Custom Programming means your plan evolves, no generic class plan on repeat
None of that has slowed the line at the door. The studio opened before its own reception area was finished and Miami showed up anyway — waitlist and all. That tells you something about the city's appetite for imported LA rigor with a side of exclusivity, price tag included.
timeout.comIf you're weighing this against Miami's existing low-impact darlings, like Pvolve's resistance-based sculpting classes, Anderson's Method asks for a bigger investment and a quieter kind of focus, with more theater and personalization in return. Whether that trade feels worthwhile depends on what you're looking for: an immersive fitness sanctuary, a science-first workout or some balance of the two.
Palm Beach is already next on Anderson's map for 2026. Coral Gables was never going to be the ceiling for South Florida — just the opening argument. The verdict on that argument: the room is stunning, the trainers are serious, and the science is still catching up to the sales pitch. Worth trying. Worth interrogating before you sign a year of your Amex to it.
